Would You Like to Be the First Human on Mars?

Meet Alyssa Carson, a 13-year-old girl who is already training to become the first person to visit Mars.

She has spent the last nine years training so that she can be part of a manned mission to Mars in 2033.

Alyssa has been to all three of NASA’s world space camps, which consist of five-day training events for young people hoping to become an astronaut. At space camp, children launch mini rockets, ride space flight simulators and experiment in zero gravity machines, as well as test their physical ability. Alongside training for her future in space, she is studying science and several languages.

In an interview Alyssa explained: “I want to go to Mars because it is a place nobody has been. It is really deserted right now so I want to take the first step. I think I have a high chance of going to Mars basically because I’ve been training for nine years so far. As I get older and continue to do more things the resume will just get longer and hopefully help me stand out and help me look unique compared to other people.”

At Vivo, we think Alyssa’s attitude and dedication is hugely inspirational. You are never too young to chase your dreams and do what you enjoy.
