At Vivo, we are a firm believer in the expression, “Healthy body, healthy mind”. In this section, we will be exploring topics related to keeping our minds and bodies healthy.
Be active! Physical exercise is not only a great way to keep physically fit, but also mentally fit. For instance, exercise helps you beat stress, keeps you happy and improves your ability to learn. It also boosts energy levels and increases your chances of living a longer, more fulfilling life. Sports are also incredibly fun and a great way to meet new people.
Exercise the mind! Think positive thoughts. Talk to your friends. Be kind to your classmates. Go out of your way to help other people. Instead of playing video games or watching TV, why not read a book or try out a game of Sudoku. Make sure you get a decent night’s sleep (Scientists say teens should sleep for 9 ¼ hours every night). All of these things will help you become a happier and healthier version of yourself.
Eat and drink the right stuff! You might get tired of adults telling you to eat your vegetables, but it is really important. Vegetables are actually pretty cool when you take a microscopic view and examine what it is about them that make them so good for us. The same goes for unhealthy foods. Fizzy drinks have lots of sugar: we all know this. But do we know why it’s so bad for us and what effect all that sugar will have on us when we’re older?
