Forget ghosts, goblins and gremlins, here are real life terrors that some people have to face every single day.

Everyone knows about arachnophobia (fear of spiders) or claustrophobia (fear of small spaces) but what about some of the more unusual ones? Some of these are quite strange. Why not share this with your friends?

Spectrophobiais the fear of mirrors. Phobias like this are the result of horror movies, TV shows or nightmares involving mirrors or the result of the person being superstitious about being watched through a mirror.

 

Logophobia

Logophobia is the fear of words. The fear usually originates from the sufferers childhood, as the frequency of learning new words can cause distress and dread. Most logophobic people have difficulty reading and speaking.

 

Pantophobia

Pantophobia or panophobiais the fear of everything, also known as a “non-specific fear”. It’s experienced as a persistent dread of an unknown evil.

 

Siderophobia

Siderophobia is a fear of stars. These people tend to stay indoors with all the curtains shut when it gets dark.

 

Cathisophobia

Cathisophobia is the fear of sitting. The primary cause of this fear in both children and adults is sitting in classrooms.

 

Frigophobia

Frigophobia is a phobia pertaining to the fear of becoming too cold. Sufferers wear heavy clothing and blankets regardless of temperature.

 

Somniphobia

Somniphobia is the fear of falling asleep. This fear can be the caused by the feeling of losing control, repeated nightmares or anxiety over the loss of time that could be spend accomplishing tasks.
